What Should a Concrete Driveway Quote Include?
A concrete driveway quote should identify the parties, measurable work, materials and construction requirements, price, schedule, payment terms, change-order process, warranty, and exclusions. A total price without a defined scope is not enough to compare proposals.
Concrete driveway quote checklist
Project identity
Contractor legal name and contact details, property address, proposal date, and how long the price remains valid.
Dimensions and limits
Length, width, area, driveway shape, apron, transitions, thickened areas, and work explicitly excluded.
Removal
Existing materials to remove, saw cutting, hauling, disposal, retained areas, and concealed-condition assumptions.
Support and drainage
Excavation, unsuitable-soil response, aggregate type and depth, compaction, elevations, slope, and drainage route.
Concrete section
Thickness, mixture requirements, placement method, reinforcement purpose and location, and edge details.
Joints and finish
Isolation and contraction-joint layout, joint method and timing, texture, color, borders, samples, and appearance limitations.
Curing and protection
Curing method, weather plan, protection from damage, and contractor instructions for foot and vehicle traffic.
Project administration
Permits, inspections, utilities, access, cleanup, restoration, start window, duration, payment schedule, change orders, warranty, and exclusions.
Is a quote the same as a contract?
No. A proposal or estimate may describe price and scope, but the signed agreement controls the work. Contract requirements vary by state. The Federal Trade Commission recommends a written contract and says it should include contractor identity, estimated start and completion dates, and promises concerning scope and cost. Applicable cancellation notices and other required terms depend on where and how the agreement is signed.
What should you do when an item is missing?
Ask for a written clarification or revised proposal before choosing a contractor. Do not fill gaps by assuming that a common practice, verbal statement, or website description is included. If a technical decision depends on site conditions, the proposal can state who will decide it, what evidence will be used, and how a change will affect price.
