The COST action 1st SARCOS Training School, titled “Self-Healing concrete: the path to sustainable construction” took place in Lisbon (Portugal), from 23-25 January 2018. The course offered an opportunity to young researchers (PhD students, young post-docs and MSc students) as well as representatives from industry, to learn about self-healing strategies and modelling, external repair methods, and characterisation techniques.
Over 40 researchers from COST action countries joined the event and RM4L PhD students, research associates and academics attended the training school and presented the UK self-healing materials research.
Prof Tony Jefferson from Cardiff University presented on “the simulation of mechanical self-healing processes”
Dr Chrysoula Litina from University of Cambridge gave a lecture titles: “Self-healing strategies and microcapsule-based systems”.
